Australia’s foremost educational event on the annual skin cancer calendar will this year feature an outstanding faculty of international and domestic experts including Prof Harald Kittler (Austria), Dr Susana Puig and Dr Josep Malvehy (Spain), Prof Harold Rabinovitz and Margaret Oliviero (Florida, USA) and our own Prof Scott Menzies (Sydney) .  They will be participating in both events below which will run consecutively in the last week of August 2008. A large trade display will feature  a wide array of the major skin cancer related products and services.  

 

In addition to the above, our local expert speakers for the conference are Prof Peter Soyer, Prof David Weedon, Dr Richard Willamson, Dr Ian McColl, Dr Graham Mann, Dr Stephen Shumack, Dr Brian DeAmbrosis, Dr Jim Muir, Dr James Emmett, and Dr Andrew Barbour. The Skin Cancer College of Australia has been formed as the academic arm of the Skin Cancer Society of Australia. Information will be presented at the conference for those seeking fellowship of Australia's leading Skin Cancer College.

 

A general meeting of the Skin Cancer Society of Australia will be held on Friday 29th August.

 

There will be a sitting of the SCSA Accreditation Exam on the Sunday afternoon after the close of the conference.

International Dermoscopy Masterclass

MON 25th - THURS 28th AUGUST

Australia’s premier four day intensive dermoscopy workshop with world leading experts instructing delegates on the art and science of skin lesion diagnosis. This course is suitable for all grades of experience from the novice wanting to fast track their dermoscopy training to the advanced dermoscopist wishing to further refine their skills. A number of delegates from last year have already registered to return to further their expertise.

The International Dermoscopy Masterclass is  recognised as an advanced dermoscopy training option towards Fellowship of the Skin Cancer College of Australia.

Registration includes daily hot buffet breakfast, morning tea, buffet lunch, and afternoon tea. The popular Masterclass dinner is also included and will be held on the Tuesday evening. There will be a maximum of three classes of 25 delegates. Participants will be awarded the S.C.S.A. "Certificate of Advanced Clinical Dermoscopy". Please book early to avoid disappointment as this event was sold out early last year.

Skin Cancer Conference 2008

  FRI 29th - SUN 31st  AUGUST

A three day internationally recognised conference featuring domestic and international experts with updates on the latest in skin cancer diagnosis and management. This will include  lectures on dermoscopy, skin cancer screening, new and emerging technologies including confocal microscopy and gene profiling, clinical photography and treatments both surgical and non-surgical. There will be updates on the NHMRC guidelines for skin cancer management which are due to be released later this year. A new surgical programme has been devised which includes lectures on Moh's surgery and an interactive planning session involving decision making in difficult clinical scenarios under the tuition of a plastic surgeon. There will also be information presented on the skin cancer audit and other activities of the Skin Cancer Society.

Registration includes morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. The social programme includes Welcome Drinks on the Friday night. The Conference Dinner (not included in registration) will be on the Saturday night by the pool  in the lush surrounds of the Sheraton Mirage.
